Homes for Unsung Heroes

Part art project part environmental project Homes for Unsung Heroes is simply building homes for insects, they are often overlooked and under valued but play a crucial role in a healthy ecosystem. Their homes current homes are under threat, it might be housing developments, a motorway or a new farm, across the country their habitats are shrinking and in turn it affects everything that relies on insects.

Homes built for insects by humans come in many forms, but Homes for Unsung Heroes will be building a range of social housing based on the iconic New Zealand state house and each home will be designed for specific native insects.

The project will be launched at Splore 2015 and then the intention is to provide plans and designs for others across the country to easily build their own Homes for Unsung Heroes.
